Sometimes when I try something new and don't do a great job, I conclude that I suck at it ... when maybe all I needed was to stretch first.
Take heart if you recently lost a job as a corporate writer or you've chosen to pursue a freelance career ... now is the perfect time to seize opportunities.
Sometimes I'd like to have a day with no changes and no choices to make. Just a nice smooth no fuss Groundhog Day kind of day, where everything stays the same just long enough for me to get my balance.
Admittedly, I was one of the lucky ones. If I had to settle for a "regular" job, at least I landed one with supervisors who recognized my talents and created opportunities for me to use them. That's not to say that I exactly skedaddled up the corporate ladder. I was a bit of an anomaly.....a creative soul in a very conservative traditional structured organization....and in the south, no less.
